Chiropractic Helps Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Chiropractic Care Shown as Effective for Carpal Tunnel Discomfort

Dr. Berklich sees a lot of patients struggling with carpal tunnel syndrome in our busy Alpharetta chiropractic office. While some people think that the source of this wrist-related pain is muscular, it's actually a problem that arises from the nerves--and not just the nerves in your hands.

Research Supports Chiropractic Therapy Helps With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Recent research printed in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy assessed 71 women between the ages of 35 and 59 who were diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. Upon studying the subjects' neck range of motion, the researchers found that the patients had less cervical flexibility when compared to a healthy control group.

In addition, they also found that the degree of the women's reported carpal tunnel problem was connected to the lateral flexion of the cervical spine. In short, the less mobility in the neck area, the higher the level of pain.

This study is extremely important, as you can't successfully resolve a problem until you fully understand its cause. By realizing that the root of carpal tunnel issues is in the neck, this means that natural approaches such as chiropractic care can often restore normal function, reducing the need for risky surgical procedures.

Chiropractic is a bit rebellious in spirit. However, we believe people should feel good, perform well, and know how to stay that way so that each of us has the opportunity to provide for our families and have the ability to contribute to a better, more sustainable future for all of us.
